Out of this Word World

The following is a Parent Blogger Network Review:

Word World is an exciting new tv program slated to be released on September 3, 2007 on PBS Kids. As a mother of two boys who are currently very adventure focused I was so pleased with the presentation of this new show. The Word Friends are a group of animals who aren’t just animals but also the letters which spell out their name.

The characters are very lively with adventures which immediately wrap your child up in seeing and learning all kinds of new words. The seamless way the show incorporates key components of literacy skills makes it clear just how hard the literacy experts worked to create this amazing show. Many other shows have shown us how quickly children can learn Spanish, counting, and other educational skills, but none have provided the clearly exceptional foundation for reading which makes this show a real winner.

My boys were both glued to the tv while watching this DVD, calling out the letters they could see and have asked again and again to see it. I found myself caught up watching just to see what words would pop up next in a creative way. Having a child in occupational therapy has taught me just how important it is to learn by incorporating multiple senses and this show provides the movement, audio, and visual that not only appeals to children but reinforces as it teaches. There is a wonderful future in tactile learning Word World toys which can help little ones to not just see the words but feel them.

I definitely encourage your 2-5 year old to catch this new show when it debuts. We’ll definitely be watching the Word World of fun!
