Disney Got Me Again

Internet I have a confession to make. I don’t tend to be a terribly overly emotional type of person with most things. But there’s one thing that brings on the tears every single time. Disney’s The Lion King. I remember seeing the movie when I was in college with some friends from my dorm. I had to shield my face a bit so they couldn’t see the tears flowing down my face from the opening Circle of Life sequence. Something about it just gives me chills and I can’t help but to cry my heart out.
Thankfully seeing it on video doesn’t have the same affect but years later when I was pregnant with EBoy and visiting New York with EDad I went to see the live Broadway show of The Lion King. Guess what happened? The tear factory opened up and just about flooded the second row seats we were sitting in. The dancers/puppeteers moving through the aisles just overwhelmed me with their beauty. Still the greatest Broadway show I’ve ever seen (not that I’ve seen many) but the Circle of Life got me again!
Moving on to our wonderful Mom blogger adventure to Disney World- we saw the live Lion King show at the Animal Kingdom. I somehow held it together, but I was so focused on getting pictures (which I have yet to share here but I promise they are coming) I managed to hold back my chills and not let the tears overtake me (but my eyes definitely watered a bit).
I had the privilege of taking the boys to see Disney On Ice (full post coming once I get all the pictures uploaded) and a piece of the show focused on The Lion King. I managed to not completely boo-hoo but definitely got a bit misty. I’d love to blame it on the pregnancy hormones but even without them I have a feeling I’d get caught up again. The show was wonderfully put together and we enjoyed it thoroughly- I highly recommend for a fun family outing that will keep the children and parents enthralled with the magic of Disney.
